For the first time in five years the shopping streets are more crowded. The research bureau City Traffic counts the number of visitors in shopping streets in 70 cities. In the first quarter of 2015 the number of visitors grew with 1,1% compared to the last quarter of 2014. The first 5 weeks showed a small decrease, but the last 7 weeks showed a large increase.
Regions
Per region the numbers diverse a lot. In the western and southern part of the Netherlands it was a lot more crowded. In the middle and eastern part is was a lot slower. The northers part was about average. In Hengelo (+14 procent), Amstelveen (+12 procent) and Almere (+12 procent) the growth was strongest. In Amersfoort (-26 procent), Emmen (-24 procent) en Almelo (-21 procent) the decrease was biggest.
